Bluejay Splashing; Just finished another watercolor painting of a Bluejay splashing. Lots of fun. Water goes everywhere and trying to capture the sense of motion is a challenge.
I love to create! So many things catch my imagination and ideas are more plentiful than time. I am a wood sculptor, painter, craftsman, metal sculptor and software developer. The last one is my profession the others are extensions of my passion for design and construction.
I am a wood sculptor, and my favorite subjects a realistic bird’s, fish and mammals. I work in Tupelo, a light close grained wood that is best worked with power tools like dental grinders. I research my subjects extensively and like to develop realistic representations. I paint my subjects with acrylic paints using airbrush and fine detailing brushes. I am a past president and instructor for the local woodcarving club where I teach power carving and painting techniques. I draw for reference work and have done some pen and ink work. Now I have jumped into watercolour, the subjects are birds of course (painting what I know).
My craftsman side finds an outlet in developing a wide variety of furniture pieces.
